I’ve put my internet design and past mortgage experience to work, to create an interactive Good Faith Estimate. Many lenders use the GFE to trick borrowers into thinking they are getting a better deal than they really are. But, unless you know what the charges are actually for, you may not be aware it.  Remember, once you have made application with a mortgage lender, they are required to provide you with a GFE within 3 business days. I hear them almost everyday on the radio;  mortgage lenders telling you about their “no closing costs” mortgages,  and real estate agents telling you they will actually buy your home if it doesn’t sell.

How do they look themselves in the mirror everyday?

The truth is there are closing costs in those mortgages, and you are paying them. Attorneys don’t work for free. Title companies don’t either. And do you honestly think the county is going to record the paperwork for free? No, of course not. The radio lender asks you to believe that they will pay your closing costs. Uh-huh, suuuuure they will. I’ll get into the details of mortgage closing costs in a future post.

And the agents advertising that they will buy your home if they don’t sell it? Don’t be fooled into thinking that they will buy your home at the price they have it listed!

Oh, they’ll offer to buy it, alright, but not at a price you’d accept. It’s just a gimmick to get in the door and get the listing.

First and foremost, I’m a real estate agent. But, at the same time, I’m also a loan officer for a mortgage broker. I’m going to use this site to educate people about both industries.

I tell people the truth. I work hard for my customers and they see that. I don’t need to trick people into thinking I’m buying all the homes I don’t sell, or that I’m paying everyones closing costs.

I’m going to be in the real estate industry for a long time. I want my reputation to reflect that I deal with people honestly and fairly.

I hear many people talking about the current real estate market, as if it is terrible. Well, in some parts of the country, it may be! But in West Georgia we may be off from last year as far as the number of homes sold, but we are still seeing an increase in the sale price.

The media is constantly hammering the real esate industry, but don’t forget all real estate is local.
